Rachel Burge's book is a massively underrated book. while its not popular on booktok, it is a fantastic read and a creepy young adult thriller that will make you not want to put it down.

The Twisted tree is a Ya supernatural, thriller, and you learn about the ancient Norse mythology. It follows 17-year-old Martha, who travels to a remote Norwegian cabin to uncover the origins of a supernatural power that allows her to read memories through touch. 

The most intriguing thing about this book, that keeps you turning the pages is supernatural aspect, and the encounters they have with it. And when Martha discovers a boy in her grandmothers cabin, it only gets better. The relationship between Martha and Stig grows into something deeper than just friendship especially going through near death experiences and meetings with the supernatural, which keeps readers, reading.

This book explores the bridge between life and death although instead of a bridge, its a tree. After Martha finds out the grandmother is unfortunately dead, she has to keep fighting with the mysterious creature loose outside as the tree is no longer cared for. Martha's bravery and sacrifice comes in to play and certainly when having to step outside when hearing noises from far away neighbours. Themes of Supernatural & Gothic Horror keeps you intrested.

Conclusion:

Overall, this book tells a spooky story, with Norse mythology, a strange boy and the supernatural. This book will keep you reading and scared. With a refreshingly different setting and people.
